Paula Fredriksen currently holds the William Goodwin Aurelio Professorship of the Apprecition of Scripture at Boston University, where she has taught since 1990.  An hiostorian of ancient Christianity, Fredriksen holds degrees from Welleskley College (1973), Oxford University (1974) and Princeston University (1979). In 1988, she was awarded the Yale University Press Govenor’s Award for Best Book for her earlier study, From Jesus to Christ: The Origins of the New Terstament Images of Jesus. In 1990, her Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews won the National Jewish Book Award. Fredriksen lived in Jerusalem in 1994-95 as a Lady Davis Visiting Professor at The Hebrew University. Sheis also the author of Augustine on Romans and many other studies on Paul, Augustine, ancient Jewish-Christian relations, and conversion in late-antiquity.

Following the release by Mel Gibson of his movie, The Passion of the Christ, she edited a book of critical articles and reviews of that production titled On the Psassion of the Christ. Exploring Issues Raised by the Controversial Movie.
